Parents in attendance:

Topics: New Business
1. Uniforms – High School
- Discussion on refreshing the High School uniforms. Initial order would be based on girls’ preference on number and size, with extra uniforms ordered as stock to complete the JV and Varsity teams.
- Jerseys could be purchased by the players as theirs to keep. Any jersey that was purchased by the player that is lost or unusable (no longer fit, torn up, etc…), would require the player to “re-purchase” or pick a suitable replacement from existing stock, if available.
- As players enter the HS program, and if their number of preference exists in stock, but is not their size, and they want to purchase that number in their size, the stock jersey will be pulled out of stock for the remainder of the time the player is active in the program. Once the player is done, the old stock uniform will be returned to service. If the number is not in stock, and not in use already, a new jersey would be purchased.
- Any stock jersey that is not returned, a fee equal to the replacement cost will be charged.
- We will continue to use the same jackets for HS.
Discussion on-going, no vote taken
2. Uniforms – Junior High School
- Existing HS jerseys (the Purple and the White pair) will be used at the Junior High Level.
- Numbers will be assigned by size. Players will not pick their numbers
- A fee will be charged for any jerseys that are not returned equal to the replacement cost
Discussion on-going, no vote taken
3. Practice Shirts – Junior High
- It was discussed that we could provide a practice shirt (low cost) for the junior high teams, as something they would be able to keep. The front would have the Raider Logo, or the Rocky Raider “head”. The back would have no number and possibly their last name on the back of the jersey (depending on cost and logistics)
Discussion on-going, no vote taken
4. Fundraising
- Football games – Marlena brought up selling “terrible towels” but, purple, with the Raider name/logo. Brandi will follow up with Mary Chamblin/Jack Purtell how to participate during the games (similar to baseball, volleyball, and other teams that sell merch.
- Restaurant fundraisers – We discussed using these during the fall and winter. Brandi will follow up with a list that Dave will provide from the restaurants we wanted to use last year.
- Jo-Jo’s Sweets – Marlena said Jo-Jo would like to do a spring-time fundraiser this year, where each player that makes the team sells and participates. Marlena will follow up with details.
- Craft Show – Marlena would like to host this years’ annual craft show at Livingston Ave school, for better visibility, and more foot traffic. Details would be the same as last years’ event.
- “Calendar Days” fundraiser was discussed. This would take the place of the hit-a-thon, and would require each player to “sell” a day on a calendar, and attempt to “fill up” their calendar. The idea is, a person would “buy” a specific day. A $1 donation would be for day 1, a $2 donation would be for day 2, and so on, until their calendar is filled with donations. Per player, a full calendar would net $510.
Discussion on-going, no vote taken.
5. Community Involvement:
- Tomato Festival – Ideas concerning a booth for fundraising and a presence were discussed. Pending details, but the board would like to participate next year.
- Special Needs program with parks & rec. This occurs in late spring, early summer. Several players participated in this event, and it was successful. We would like to expand participation to include more team members. Discussion on-going
- Summer Recreation leagues – have players attend a “pre-season” event, to be coordinated with the city, and run a “mini-camp” of skills, exercises, and help coaches out. The board would offer used equipment for sale (at discounted prices) to encourage younger players. Brandi will follow up with Parks and Rec. Discussion on-going
Discussion on-going, no vote taken.
6. Coordination with the School
- It was discussed that we should try to partner with the schools to raise awareness of the softball program to encourage more players to join fall and winter practices, and tryouts. Robin will follow up with each of the schools to determine how to communicate better with potential players.
- It was also discussed that we should participate as a group in more school events (as we had in the past, like Cookies with Santa, etc…). Michelle will work on ideas for these events.
7. Drop box for Varsity concession stand
- It was discussed to install a drop box inside the concession stand for field rental payments, and correspondence between the board and renters. Dave will follow up on costs and logistics.
Topics: Old Business
1. JV field dugout completion
- It was discussed that we should reach out to Tony to determine the schedule and the possibility of volunteers to help complete the dugout roofing for the JV field. Dave to reach out to Tony and get information.
2. Sheds for JV and Waggoner, and signs for Varsity and JV field
- Dave provided an update on the effort to engage the school board on the need for a new shed at the JV field, and a replacement shed at Waggoner. In June Dave sent an email to the board, with a quote from Outdoors Unlimited, as well as a request for proper signage, and had positive responses from multiple board members. August 23rd, Dave sent a follow-up to the initial request. Awaiting response.
3. Tractors for JV and Varsity
- Dave contacted Darrel Williams on tractor needs earlier this spring. Dave will follow up with Darrel to see what he has to offer, and discuss trading in our old tractor for parts.
